The Eviction Prevention and Rent Assistance Program (EPRAP) has now paid out $55 million in rent assistance since January 2021, including last week’s $5.1 million in assistance. This is in addition to more than $37 million paid to support households throughout King County in 2020. EPRAP payments since the program began last year now total $92 million in assistance.
This week’s blog also includes information on upcoming registration events and opportunities for one-on-one application assistance.
Thanks to the work of community-based provider staff and County outreach teams, EPRAP sent out rent payments to support 428 households last week – a 47 percent week-over-week increase! The program saw 4,000 households moved forward into engagement and services and nearly 4,000 more newly eligible households registered for assistance. King County’s new simplified attestation process is helping speed applications.
Number of Households in the Program
Since Jan. 1, 2021 to Oct. 17, 2021:
- Households that have applied for rental assistance: 32,612
- Households currently working with or have worked with a community-based organization to receive rental assistance: 19,818
- Households that have been paid: 5,376
- Large Landlord Accounts Receiving Advanced Funds: 89 large landlord accounts (360 owners) have received advanced funds.
Continuing outreach and engagement in the community
Efforts on the ground continue in the coming weeks as both county and community provider staff offer one-on-one assistance to landlords and tenants with questions about the County’s rental assistance payments and eviction protections. Two events are scheduled to offer immediate help on an existing application, answer questions, and enroll new households eligible for aid.
