New Funding Opportunity: Family Child Care Home Upgrades

King County Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) is pleased to announce a new funding opportunity. The Family Child Care Facilities Fund (FCCFF) Request for Proposal (RFP) is now open.  This funding stream will support family child care providers with the maintenance, repairs, and renovations needed for their programs.

The RFP, driven by the Housing, Homelessness and Community Development Division (HHCDD) in DCHS is supporting maintenance, repairs and improvements needed for existing family child care homes. Many family home child care providers operate on tight month-to-month budgets and struggle to remain afloat under economic pressures such as housing costs, stagnant wages, competition from subsidized preschool programs in schools and centers, and low reimbursement rates.

This RFP is meant to assist these family child care providers with the home upgrades needed to support their programs. FCCFF awards will enable family home child care providers to meet licensing compliance and/ or Early Achievers designation.  Additionally, this fund will ensure Early Childhood Education Assistance Program (ECEAP) contractors and Working Connection Child Care (WCCC) subsidy providers can expand, renovate, or construct early learning spaces to preserve and/or increase the number of child care slots available in their program.

Eligibility

This RFP is open to all eligible licensed family child care homes in King County, including but not limited to those providing ECEAP and WCCC slots. FCCFF Applicants must also meet at least one of the following criteria to apply:
