King County is applying for the Pathways to Removing Obstacles to Housing (PRO Housing) Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. As part of efforts to capture the needs and concerns of community members, we are organizing a PRO Housing Grant Application Public Hearing on October 18 from 9:00 am – 10:00 am at King County’s Chinook Building located at 401 5th Avenue in Seattle, on the first floor in room 126. To register for the public hearing and request accommodations, please fill out this form by October 13 at 12:00 noon.

For those who prefer to submit comment online, King County will also release a public comment form on October 11. King County’s draft PRO Housing grant application will be released on the same day for public review via our Cultivating Connections blog and Instagram

The PRO Housing grant appropriates $85 million for competitive funding for the identification and removal of barriers to affordable housing production and preservation. The maximum award amount is $10 million over a six-year period of performance.

In King County, affordable housing is not keeping pace with the population, especially for the lowest-income households. If awarded grant funding, King County will be better resourced to produce and preserve affordable housing through innovative strategies and regional collaboration.
