The Early Learning Facilities investment that funds improvements to family- and center-based child care facilities, released a report highlighting 2023 accomplishments.
The investment from King County’s Puget Sound Taxpayer Accountability Account (PSTAA) directs Sound Transit 3-related funds to be used to improve educational outcomes.

- The Early Learning Facilities funded-projects are located in geographic areas with high unmet need.
- As funded projects are completed, they increase number of available child care slots in our region. Projects completed in 2023 created 40 new subsidized child care slots and 33 new unsubsidized slots.
- These funds support child care providers who are more likely to be multilingual or Black, Indigenous or people of color, which helps preserve access to high quality, culturally relevant care. More than 80 percent of family child care providers who received funds were BIPOC.
