Understand Community Priorities: A new funding opportunity from the Veterans, Seniors and Human Services Levy

The King County Veterans, Seniors and Human Services Levy (VSHSL) has set aside funds to commission community-led research that provides King County an assessment of strengths, barriers and needs of geographic, cultural or experiential communities in King County.

A new funding opportunity is available from the VSHSL to support persons, tribes and/or community-based organizations to develop, conduct, and analyze community assessments of strengths, barriers and needs of geographic, cultural or experiential communities in King County.

Funding for Understand Community Priorities

The Understand Community Priorities strategy seeks to prioritize resources and programs that align with the community’s voice and reflect local priorities and values. As a part of achieving equitable outcomes, King County recognizes the need for communities, particularly marginalized communities, to be supported to organize on their own terms to inform King County about community needs and strengths.

In partnership with the identified community, successful applicants will create and administer a community assessment that will help inform and improve the responsiveness of county government including potential allocation of future resources. The assessment should center community voice and expertise and utilize processes that enable broad and robust engagement by community members (e.g., talking circles, roundtables, workshops, charrettes, questionnaires, focus groups, interviews, etc.).
