On Saturday, June 3rd, King County will host a virtual community meeting to provide an update on Brooks Village, an undeveloped 14.3-acre parcel owned by the county in Skyway-West Hill. Information on an upcoming Request for Proposals (RFP) to explore affordable housing development in this neighborhood will also be provided. Registration is open and will close on Wednesday, May 31st. Should you miss the registration deadline, need language interpretation or need any additional assistance to register or participate, please email your request along with your first and last name, and current email and phone number to Melissa Aguilar at marias@kingcounty.gov.

Located along Renton Avenue South in Skyway, Brooks Village is largely wetlands with approximately three acres of buildable land. The area has long been of interest as a site for affordable housing and open space conservation. In 2021, King County hosted two community meetings to gather feedback from the community about their affordable housing goals and how best to achieve a community-driven outcome at Brooks Village. Feedback from these conversations in 2021 will inform the upcoming RFP on affordable housing development in Skyway-West Hill. As part of finalizing the RFP, meeting participants will also be invited to share input on the RFP process to ensure that outcomes align with community priorities.
