A new funding opportunity is available from the Veterans, Seniors, and Human Services Levy (VSHSL) to provide outreach and resources to King County veterans, military servicemembers, and their respective families who will benefit from connection to and provision of community resources.
Funded outreach and resource programs will provide direct services, connect veterans with a service hub such as the King County Veterans Program (KCVP), or provide referrals to other veteran-serving community partners. The programs will be frontline points of connection that make the initial contacts and relationships, intentionally connecting veterans, military servicemembers, and their respective families to other VSHSL-funded and veteran-serving programs to provide systemic responses that support housing stability, financial stability, social engagement, healthy living, and service system access when appropriate.
This investment will prioritize funding entities that serve specific populations of veterans, servicemembers, and their families, in need of connection to culturally competent services and resources. Such populations may include specific veteran identities, social groups, and communities including, but not limited to, veterans of color, LGBTQ+ veterans, veteran families, Native American veterans, rural communities, disabled veterans, and other veteran groups or communities who are underserved by veteran-specific and community resources.
Funding overview
This funding opportunity is grounded in three goals:
- Engage and connect veterans, military servicemembers, and their families to programs that can promote housing stability, financial stability, social engagement, and healthy living.
- Focus on provider-designated veteran populations who have historically faced barriers to accessing services by providing targeted outreach and connection to appropriate resources.
- Engage in collaborative partnerships, system building, and mutual learning to create and sustain meaningful pathways to services for veterans, military servicemembers, and their families, and increase the capacity of organizations serving these individuals.
